Setting Up Digital Signage on Your TV

TSOLife Digital Signage is available for use through Fire Stick and/or Apple TV. You will first want to set up the device per the manufacturer's instructions. Once the device is set up, you will need to turn off the Still Watching feature to ensure the Digital Signage display does not time out. Each device may differ slightly in verbiage for this setting:

  • From the Fire Stick home screen, navigate to the gear icon to open the system settings dashboard.
  • Click on ‘Preferences.’
  • Click on ‘Data Usage Monitoring.’
  • Locate the ‘Still Watching’ option and toggle it to the ‘Off’ position.
  • For step-by-step instructions on setting up your Fire Stick, check out the article Getting Started with Fire TV.

Apple TV:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple TV.
  • Go to General in the Settings menu.
  • Locate the "Sleep After" option within General.

Each device you set up will be represented on the site in its own box:

When viewing a device on the main Digital Signage screen on the web, you can quickly view:

  • The device’s name
  • What group (if any) the device is in
  • If the device is on or off in the top right corner
  • How many screens are on the device
  • The screen resolution
  • The location of the device

The crop window will be sized to match the dimensions of the box where the photo will be placed, so you'll only be able to crop within the shape of the template box. To get the best results, select a photo that matches the box dimensions, this will give you more flexibility and a better overall fit.

Once you have added all of your photos, press Next.

Editing Previously Created Screens

On the Digital Signage main dashboard, press Edit on any device that you wish to edit.

At the top of the page, make any edits to the device location name and the group. To save any changes, press Save Changes in the top right corner. If you need to delete the device,  press Delete Device in the top right corner. Return back to the main dashboard at any time by clicking Back to Dashboard.

The first section of screens are the default screens. These will automatically be created when the device is set up.

The Welcome Screen cannot be turned off. It will show your community logo, and on the right-hand side, a photo of your community.

If you have a photo you would like to use, please send it to your designated Customer Success Manager.

The Happening Now and Local Weather screens can be turned on or off with the toggle in the top right corner. The Happening Now screen updates automatically throughout the day to show the event that is currently happening and the event is up next!

On this page you will also see Custom Screens. These are any screens that you have created. This page makes it easy to manage your custom screens by turning them on and off, as well as editing them.

  • To turn the screens on or off, you can use the toggle in the top right corner of each screen.
  • To delete a screen, press Delete in the lower left corner.
  • To edit a previously made screen, press Edit in the lower right corner. This will take you back through the screen creation process for that particular screen.

Next, you will see the calendar screens. Digital Signage will automatically pull your calendar events in real-time so you do not need to input any events!

For each care level, you have the option to display a daily, weekly, and/or monthly calendar on your device! To turn a calendar view on or off, use the toggle in the top right corner of the screen you wish to turn on/off. For each care level, you can also select to include the care level label on the calendar and resident birthdays by using the toggles in the top right corner.

If your community utilizes the dining calendar, you will find the dining calendar options at the very bottom.

For each dining room, you have the option to display all of the meals for the day or meals by time. Meals by time will display only the upcoming meal based on the time of day. Use the toggle to turn the dining calendars on/off for each dining room you have set up in the dining calendar.

You do not need to input any meals, Digital Signage will automatically pull the meals from your dining calendar in real time!

On the main Digital Signage dashboard, click Screens in the top right corner to view all screens that have been made across all devices.

At the top of the Screens page, you can search for a screen, or filter by screen type.

In the top right corner, return to the main dashboard at any time by pressing Back. You can also create a new screen or a new group.

View how many devices the screen is running on by looking at the grey TV icon in the top right corner. If there is no number, that screen is not currently running on any devices. If you see a number, that tells you how many devices that screen is set to run on currently.

Click the icon to view the specific devices.

In the pop-up, you will see a tab for Selected Devices that the screen is currently running on and a tab for Available Devices.

On the Selected Devices tab, it will list all of the devices that screen is currently shown on. If you wish to remove the screen from any of those devices, press the red x.

In the Availables tab, search for a device by name in the search bar at the top. Click the check mark to add the screen to any available device.

On the Screens page, delete or edit any screen by pressing either Delete or Edit. Editing a screen will take you back to the screen creation process to make changes.
