Watching MasterClasses

All MasterClasses come with a set of tools and resources meant to help you get the most out of each course.

Class Guide

All courses come with a curated class guide. These guides summarize the most crucial points of each course and contain additional information about the instructor, their field of expertise, and the history of their craft. Some may also contain key terms used in the course, other helpful illustrations, and additional resources like key works and reading lists. After completing a course, saving the class guide can prove to be an excellent resource for refreshing your memory and ensuring your learnings extend beyond the classroom.

In the example above of Esther Perel’s course, you can download the class guide by selecting the Class Guide download option in the bottom right corner of the video player.

Taking Notes

MasterClass provides a space to take notes on the right hand side of the video while watching lessons. All notes are automatically saved. You can access your notes from the “My Progress” tab, or on the instructor page. Your notes are private and only visible to you.

Finding Content

To discover content you can click on the “Library” button at the top of your screen at any time and you will be brought to this screen. Type in the search box a name of an instructor, class or a topic

You can also click on any of the 10 Skills across the top of the screen. From there you can also filter on:

  • Any of the skills that fall under the skill category you selected
  • Different formats such as:
    • Classes: An immersive experience that is typically 2-5 hours long taught by a leader in their field. You can learn on your own terms—in bite-size pieces or in a single binge. Cinematic visuals and close-up, hands-on demonstrations make you feel like you’re one-on-one with the instructors, while the downloadable instructor guides help reinforce your learning.
    • Lessons: Smaller portions of the classes that specifically focus on a specific skill or topic. The duration of these lessons can vary depending on the topic but are approximately 10 minutes in length.
    • Playlists: are curated experiences that utilize several lessons from different leaders and focus on one specific skill. They typically last 20-40 minutes in duration.

Sessions: An immersive experience that allows you to interact with a teaching assistant, other learners and get the opportunity to apply your learning and get feedback on your progress.  The duration and pace will vary depending on you, but they are designed to be done over a 30 day period.
